Republicans suppressed the debates, despite the Democrats’ protests and paved the way for Amy Coney Barrett’s final vote for the Supreme Court.
There were two dissenting votes from Republican senators who voted together with Democrats. Republican senators Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins went against President Trump’s wish and joined the Democrats’ vote so that the vote for the Supreme Court seat would be post-election.
Despite her initial obstruction, Senator Lisa Murkowski will vote to approve Amy Coney Barrett’s name. Alaska is a state, historically republican, which must have influenced Senator Murkowski’s decision.
US.LUXURY estimates that it would be a great risk to Senator Lisa Murkowski’s political career to upset her largely conservative voters.
Amy Coney Barrett has been attacked by Democratic senators. After being confirmed to the Supreme Court, Barrett, who has a Catholic religious orientation, can form a majority of judges who can review controversial Supreme Court decisions on issues related to health care and abortion.
Mitch McConnell, President Donald Trump’s faithful squire and Senate Majority Leader justified the move to hasten the choice of Amy Coney Barrett by attacking the Democrats: βWeβve made an important contribution to the future of this country. A lot of what weβve done over the last four years will be undone sooner or later by the next election. They wonβt be able to do much about this for a long time to come.β
